The Buena Vista University Ag club on Buenafication Day was tasked with maintaining the Buena Vista county fairgrounds outside of Alta. The students were helping to rip out old fences and give a fresh coat of paint to some of the structures. Mike Christen was leading the students and provided a spread of pastries to thank them for their service. With country music playing in the background and a grill cooking lunch, the atmosphere was lively. The Ag students followed by their trusty companion, James the dog, were eager to help wherever they were needed. President of the Ag club, Carmen Morrison, discussed the importance of Buenafication day because students can give back to the Buena Vista community by helping to maintain a place that families come to spend time at in the summer. “For Ag club, we’re at the fairgrounds, the fairgrounds is ag-related so for us we’re helping out the local fairgrounds and this is going to be where everyone over the summer comes, spends their time and enjoys moments with their family.” Ready and willing to do whatever, the Ag club enjoys any opportunity to be outside and working. This is just one small piece of Buenafication day where BVU gives back to the community for all of its support.
