STORM LAKE DISC GOLF COURSE

In efforts to give back to the community that supports them, the Buena Vista University Men and Women’s basketball teams spent their day picking up sticks, laying mulch, and maintaining the disc golf course. The teams spent the morning bonding, goofing off while parading the course with trash bags and gloves, eager to find sticks and leaves to dispose of. The teams split up into groups, and created a upbeat and fun environment with music playing and constant chatter. In order to keep the teams on track, the coaches also helped maintain the park, raking up leaves or walking around with trash bags. With the coaches’ presence facilitating maintenance cleanup, focus was shifted away from on court success and towards giving back to the greater Storm Lake community. Freshman Lindsey Anhalt from Littleton, Colorado who is participating in her first Buenafication day said, “I think being out here with my teammates has been a lot of fun. I mean, you know, being goofy and being able to do some community service at the same time.” With buckets, bags, and rakes in hand, the basketball teams enjoyed their day off of classes by cleaning up the park with their fellow teammates.
