I went to Holy Apostles Soup kitchen in New York. It is the largest nonprofit emergency food program in New York City and the second largest soup kitchen in the United States; Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen serves an average 1,000 meals each weekday. As people were entering the building, I was putting the food on the plates one by one and handing it off to them. Then, it was off the next person and so on. It was strenuous because the food had to be ready as soon as a person entered the building. I managed to put everything in order so it would be ready for people to pickup. As a result, this project had a huge impact on the community. In a day, we served over 1,000 meals to people in need. There was 50 volunteers involved, each of them varied from teenagers to adults. This benefited families and adults as the majority of people who were being served were families and adults. Many people in my community experience food insecurity and depend on the soup kitchen for food.

Next, the most memorable part of the activity was after I gave a person their food, that person came up to me and said,"thank you for providing with food because I am homeless, I live in the parking lot and struggle to provide for myself." That moment moved me because I am just a regular person doing my duty as a food servant, and for someone to say thatit is an indescribable feeling. Furthermore, I saw smiles from people who don't usually smile, I seen the joy on their faces when they received food because this was the only meal, they were going to have all day.
